Story
Nova is the first assistance dog of her breed in
Sweden, certified by Marie Fogelqvist (2005).
Nova has also passed both the Swedish mental tests with good
results and therefore she has got the title KORAD.
When Nova was 8 weeks she came to her family and her owner Åsa
immediately started training according to positive reinforcement and
friendly methods. Since Novas mistress suffers from an incomplete
paralysation due to a spinal injury the main goal with the training
was to teach Nova how to help Åsa in her daily life. When it was
time for examination she already had knowledge on lots of tasks, and
the number is still increasing. Besides of new special moments for
work Åsa and Nova has great fun training "party tricks". For
instance Nova’s real fast when it comes to picking up small coins
and put them in the slot of a money-box. Her most beloved "trick" is
that she shakes her head vigorously when she’s asked the question
"Are you a fighting dog?"
Inspired by the positive power of her dog - and to do
something against the "rottweiler-racism" that’s growing in the
society - Åsa Tova Bergh 2006 released her book "The advocation of a
rottweiler" (En rottweilers försvarstal) which is the most extensive
book on the breed published in Sweden this far.
Nova is clicker trained and a very nice member of her
loving family.
