Story
It took us two years to decide on the right Moloss breed for us. We live in central London in an apartment on the
King’s Road with two kids and needed something not too big and not too small so as it wouldn’t be stepped on by
the hundreds of thousands of tourists who pound “London’s Catwalk” daily.
When Minnie was exactly 8 weeks we drove for five hours from London to Newcastle to pick her up from her breeder
Mr. Martin Moran of Marinmor Bulldogs, a terrific guy and a breeder with the most profound love and knowledge of bulldogs.
As we all know the first month at home for any puppy is difficult but when you live in central London, in a flat,
it is particularly difficult as she wasn’t allowed out until her inoculations kicked in for a month.
The vet warned us rats run through the gutters in London and of course have all sorts of nasty germs and “her
paws must not touch the ground!”. This can be a challenge for any new owner but Minnie is a very sensitive and clever
dog and quickly learnt to use toilet pads and crated happily soon got into a swing of our busy London life.
As soon as she hit the streets she made a very big impact, people could not decide if she was a boxer or a bulldog,
which gave me a chance to explain the breed. People literally stopped their cars in the middle of the road and jumped
out to ask me about her. The modern bulldog is such a sad animal compared to its original predecessor (the VB) and people
can clearly see the humane and aesthetic reasons for the VB immediately over the modern bulldog. I think the best
advertisement for any breed is a happy healthy dog which people want to pat and enquire about.
Minnie is very easily managed around the house and we have a good routine of walks in the morning with the kids going to
school and walks in the afternoon when collecting the kids. It also gives us a chance to train her outside on the street
which was hard for her to concentrate at first but worthwhile and necessary now. Like any puppy she gets excited but
unlike most dogs she doesn’t bark but does tend to pull like a freight train when interested in something, and has a
distinct air of “nothing to prove” which tends to upset most dogs for some strange reason and particularly their owners.
London is full of dogs and most contact with other dogs ends up with owners screaming at their dogs to stop barking
pulling them away from Minnie who simply stands there and stares undisturbed like a grizzly bear.
I whole heartedly recommend the VB to anyone toying with the idea of a mid-sized molossiod dog, they are a perfect size
for kids to play with and have a gentle sweetness which contrasts their distinctly fierce appearance. They are sporty,
very very intuitive, they don’t drool or slobber, easily trained and very low maintenance.
It is a very exciting time for us as Minnie is now 10 months old and as we all know these breed take years to develop fully,
but right now she is beginning to turn into a big healthy bitch with some great, great qualities.
Please feel free to check out more pics of her as she grows, at the VBF (above site) by clicking on “pictures”
and if there is anything you guys need to know about the breed please feel free to ask anyone on our friendly site.
Thanks Moloss.com and keep up the great work on your fab site.

Do YOU want to nominate a Molosser for Molosser of the Month? It
does not have to be a dog who have achieved alot at shows, other reasons count as much to be Molosser
of the Month at Molosserworld.
