Because of the harddrive crash at my computer there will no be any "ordinary" MOTM for September 2005.
Instead October 2005 will be a celebration of an old and long gone dog, the British Bulldog "Old Joe".

Without knowledge about his real name I will use "Old Joe", the name that have been used on him at one of the old postcards seen below.
"Old Joe" was a beautiful British Bulldog of old that were pictured on quite a few postcards in the very beginning of the 1900's. The oldest postcard with him that I have in my possession was post-stamped in 1903.
The picture at the top of this page (picture 1) is the original picture which have used as a painted version at several postcards, all with different settings. Some of these, especially picture 7, have been claimed is a painting of an original American Bulldog from the southern part of USA. Sorry to say but this is just nonsence. "Old Joe" was a British Bulldog. He was born in Britain, and he lived all his life in Britain, and he is in no way included in the American Bulldog ancestry.
"Old Joe" was also "victim" for some early photo montagues. Picture 3 can also be found manipulated into the Bulldog collection in picture 9. Below the collection you can find the original photo for the Bulldog at the far right side. However, picture 5 have not been manipulated and among these great bulldogs you can find "Old Joe" at the far right. As you can see in this picture, as well as in the other pics, "Old Joe" had quite a bit undershot. However, in one of the painted postcards (picture 6) the visable lower teeth have been removed.
In my opinion "Old Joe" was a great Bulldog that deserves to mentioned, even now, more than 100 years after he lived.
